Where: Olympic Village Lodge, Squaw Valley
Hosted by the Truckee Tahoe Earth Day Festival, Wild & Scenic features films on Thursday about adventure in the environment and Friday about sustainable communities. Thursday night’s featured film is “The Denali Experiment,” which chronicles the adventures of a free ride skier and big mountain snowboarder as they attempt to climb, ski, and snowboard Denali. Friday’s film is the festival’s 2013 Best of Festival winner, “Cafeteria Man,” a story of positive movement that shows what’s possible in our nation’s schools.
Reason to go: Cool films about the environment and adventure are always a good way spend an evening.
Reason not to go: You’re more about going out dancing than sitting quietly. Quartet Minus One will be gettin’ their groove on at Moody’s, 8pm.

Best Reason to Throw Some Beers in Your Backpack
What: TRAiNS Freestyle Ski & Snowboard Contest
When: Sat, April 20, 11am – 4pm
Where: Alpine Meadows
TRAiNS is a freestyle ski and snowboard contest unlike any other. In 2013, TRAiNS returns to its roots as a style-oriented event. Large spins and double-flipping rotations will be left to other contests, as the best 540 and the best in-air back flip will be called on as key ingredients to impress the judges.
Reason to go: The contestants’ amazing slope styles will be set to the super rad soundtrack of DJ Silver Boombox Thief + Mary Poppin’ and accompanied by delicious grub from Full Belly Deli and LaValle’s world famous chicken wings.
Reason not to go: You’re no fun. Or you’re going to be wine tasting in Napa with me (and very sad to be missing your bestie’s DJ-ing debut).
