Thursday, March 7th

Best Chance to Meet a Local Celebrity While Making Business Contacts
What:
Meet & Greet with Daron Rahlves
When: 4:30 – 6:00pm
Where: Bank of the West, Truckee

As part of a mixer sponsored by the Truckee Chamber of Commerce, Truckee local Daron Rahlves, the most decorated American downhill and Super G skier in history, will host a meet and greet for his fans. Daron will also talk about his experiences in competition and his Banzai Tour, which concludes this weekend with the Silverbelt Banzai at Sugar Bowl.

Reason to go: You can get some quality business networking in AND claim you had drinks with Daron Rahlves.
Reason not to go: You are headed to Reno to indulge your secret love of euro-trance at the Tiesto College Invasion Tour. I won’t tell if you don’t.

 

Friday, March 8th

Best Family-Friendly Event that Involves a Cocktail
What:
SnowFest Cocktail Bingo
When: 7pm
Where: Community Arts Center (Old Rec Center), Downtown Truckee

Super fun family event. Beer, wine, cocktails, and sodas will be served. $10 for the first two cards; $5 each additional. Win cash and prizes!

Reason to go: The kids will have fun; you'll have fun. And it involves cocktails.
Reason not to go: Squaw CEO, Andy Worth, will appear on CBS’s “Undercover Boss” at 8pm. He goes undercover as a ski patroller, ski school instructor, and a terrain park employee.

 

Saturday, March 9

Best Way to Support a Great Local Organization While Drinking Wine
What:
LUNAFest Film, Food, and Wine Festival
When: 6pm
Where:  Olympic Village Lodge, Squaw Valley

Enjoy wine tastings from seven wineries and food from seven local restaurants followed by 90 minutes of award-winning short films, including an an animated short that won the NYC Short Film Festival Audience Choice Award. The evening benefits Girls on the Run Sierras, and you can get tickets here.

Reason to go: What’s better than a film festival? A food, wine, AND film festival, of course!
Reason not to go: There are two good shows on the north shore Saturday night: Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers at the CBC and Fresh Bakin’s Dirtybird Invasion featuring Justin Martin and Christian Martin at Lakeside, Tahoe City. You could always stop by Squaw on your way.

 

Sunday, March 10

Best Reason (I can think of) to Strap on Skinny Skis
What:
The 12th Annual Gourmet Ski Tour
When: 12:30pm
Where: Tahoe Cross Country Ski Center, Tahoe City

Glide, stride, or snowshoe your way through a gourmet lover’s on-snow wonderland, featuring food and beverage stations spread around the Tahoe XC center. A fundraiser for the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Education Association, the afternoon concludes with margaritas and live music by The Jelly Bread Band. More info here.

Reason to go: XC skiing should always be accompanied by food and margaritas.
Reason not to: The HSTT Ididarun (a wacky dog-sled pull) takes place at 1pm at the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Lodge. Take the family and sign your dog up by noon!
