What's Up This Weekend?

June 21st – June 23rd

The Insider’s picks for the most happenin’ events in town.

The stars of Tahoe deserve a tour.

Friday, June 21st

Best Way to Get Away (G-rated)
What: Tahoe Star Gazing Tours
Where: Meet at the Members Lounge of the Constellation Club (Top of the Highlands Gondola) Northstar Resort, Truckee
When: Friday, June 21st; 8:15pm

When was the last time you went on a star gazing tour? Exactly. Join in on a science talk, quiz (with prizes), and poetry around the fire pits of the Lodge at Big Springs at Northstar, followed by a laser tour of the sky and viewing through Celestron Telescopes. $30 for adults; $15 for children 12 and under.

Reason to go: The kids will love it!
Reason not to go: You don’t want to miss guitar legend Junior Brown play at the Crystal Bay Club; 9pm.

Saturday, June 22nd

Best Way to Get Away (PG-13)
What: Space Cowboys Full Moon Party – High Altitude Delight
Where: Squaw Valley High Camp
When: Saturday, June 22nd. 8pm to 2am. Possible earlier start. Check High Altitude Delight event page.

Enjoy an array of cocktails, lasers, fires, and of course, a number of Space Cowboy Djs 8,200 feet in the air at Squaw Valley’s High Camp. This will definitely be the biggest and best party in North Lake this weekend; don’t forget your glow sticks!

Reason to go: Djs and cocktails at the top of a mountain.
Reason not to go: This doesn’t even phase you on the sweetness scale because you are at The Bounce Festival which was last year hailed the best electronic music festival in all of the USA by www.musicfestivaljunkies.com.

Sunday, June 23rd

Best Way to Rock Out with Your Socks Off
What: Concerts at Commons Beach – The Trey Stone Band and Drop Theory
Where: Commons Beach, Tahoe City
When: Sunday, June 23rd; 3pm – 7pm

Sunday kicks off the opening concert for this 12-week concert series at Commons Beach. All concerts will be from 4pm to 7pm, but the first and the last start early at 3pm. Oh yeah, and all are free. On top of that, you can bring your own food and booze, picnic style, making Sunday cheap date day. Or enjoy barbeque, sushi, ice cream, salads, beer, and more from local food and drink vendors.

Reason to go: Free live music on the beach. If you need more convincing, consider saying “yes” more.
Reason not to go: Your skin is a little too crispy from that 3-hour float on the Truckee River this afternoon.
