Riverside Studios in Truckee is hosting an art opening featuring Nancy Holliday for Truckee's First Fridays. Riverside is promising refreshments, a cool vibe, and live music from Aaron Oropeza - A Truckee local with a rock and blues sound.
Reason to go: Impress your date with art and music.
Reason not to go: You are all tuckered out from riding opening day at Northstar's Hike & Bike Park (opens Fri, June 7tth 10am-7pm).

Easiest Way to Pass Out Before Dinner
What: 8th Annual Truckee Optimist Brew Fest w/ Drop Theory
Where: Truckee River Regional Park
When: Saturday, June 8th from 1pm-5pm
Affectionately referred to as "Drunks in a Cage," the Truckee Brew Fest is back! This time we will be partying and listening to the tunes of local funk rock band, Drop Theory. Get your tickets in advanced for $25 at Dickson Reality, Coffee Bar, Tuff Beanz, Autoglass Express Truckee, or from an Optimist; $30 at the gate. Must be 21 years old; designated drivers get in FREE.
Reason to go: All proceeds benefit programs, sponsorships, grants, and major scholarships for the youth of Truckee.
Reason not to go: You’re busy taking care of your body running a 5K, 10K, or ½ marathon at the Truckee Running Festival with Girls on the Run.
Sunday, June 9th
Best Way to Help Pets In Need (without bringing home a new dog)
What: 10th Annual Duckee Derbee
Where: The River Ranch - Hwy 89 & Meadows Rd.
When: Sunday, June 9th from 1pm to 4pm
Help homeless pets in Truckee by sponsoring a rubber ducky for the Duckee Derbee. Go online (www.hstt.org/events/truckee-duckee-derbee) to sponsor a duck or just be there at 1pm to select your winning duck. The event features a rubber ducky race, a Dogz in Dudz contest (pets in costumes), live music, cold beer, and one of the best raffles in town. The Humane Society and the homeless pets of Truckee hope to see you there!
Reason to go: It's a great family event that benefits the animals of Truckee.
Reason not to go: Brew Fest got the best of you.
