HSTT's Big Summer Events are Coming Up
If you can’t tell, we love the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, and we love the parties they throw. Lucky for us (and you), HSTT has two big events out at Squaw this August.
Brews, Jazz, and Funk Fest
First up is the Brews, Jazz & Funk Fest, August 10th and 11th, in The Village at Squaw Valley. Celebrate music and beer at this weekend-long event that benefits the homeless pets of Truckee-Tahoe. On tap, choose from 40 different western beers, including brews from Lagunitas, Deschutes, and Tahoe Mountain Brewing. A $5 donation gets you in, and dogs are welcome!
Saturday’s Music: Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue – Mojo Green – The Mark Sexton Band – Nigel Hall Band
Sunday’s Music: March Fourth Marching Band – Terraplane – Jellybread – Zigaboo Moeliste and the New Aakesstra
4th Annual Peaks & Paws
Then it’s back to Squaw Valley on August 25th and 26th for the 4th Annual Peaks & Paws event. Enjoy live music, local art, wine tasting, beer sipping, and tons of dog-themed fun! If you have been itching for a hoedown, this is your weekend! Guests will enjoy live bluegrass music on two stages, including local favorites Dead Winter Carpenters.
The Beer Garden will be serving beers from noon to 6:00 pm for $4.00 each. Wine tasting is available from 3:00 - 6:00pm for $25.00, which includes a festival wine glass.
Saturday’s Music: David Grisman Bluegrass Experience - Paige Anderson & the Fearless Kin - The Brothers Comatose - Sierra Drifters
Sunday Music: Dead Winter Carpenters - Low Flying Birds - The Silent Comedy - Bison Bluegrass Band
Can’t make it to either event? Consider becoming a Hero as part of the Heroes Now and Forever campaign. Your donation will help HSTT reach its final fundraising goal for the new shelter set to open this fall.
The existing Truckee animal kennel is, well, let’s just say it isn’t what it should be. It was built to hold up to eight dogs and 30 cats, but at times HSTT has upwards of 25 - 30 dogs and 60-80 cats. After years of planning and fundraising the beautiful new shelter will open in September, but HSTT still needs funds to complete the project.
