A Delicious New Downtown Dining Option

Have you noticed the new café in the former Trokay Café/Elijah Bleu’s location? As someone who works downtown, any new lunch option is fabulous in my eyes, so I’ve been excited to check it out. I stopped in last week for a sandwich and look around. It looks a lot like Trokay did only a little more casual. I was there for take out, but it appeared they offer table service as well.

I ordered a half deli sandwich, and it was about the largest sandwich I’ve ever seen. Rivaled only by the massive pile of potato salad that accompanied it. Definitely tasty, if a bit overwhelming.

I decided to go back again today to try their tuna melt special. $10 for a sandwich seemed a little pricey, but it came with choice of potato salad, pasta salad, chips, or cup of soup. Having experienced the enormous potato salad mound last week, I opted for a cup of the homemade French onion soup. Again, it was a side worthy of being a main course, but both it and the sandwich were delicious. And all more than worth the price, especially since I have leftovers for tomorrow.

The breakfast menu looks yummy…can’t wait to try the benedict and huevos rancheros. Mmm… In case you’re curious, I “borrowed” the menus so you can check them out for yourself.

Marty's Cafe is located at 10115 Donner Pass Road in the Loading Dock Building. Breakfast is 8am - 12pm; lunch is 12pm - 4pm.
